Fine Arts

The arts are a proud tradition at York Chester Middle School, where students in band, chorus and the visual arts consistently earn top ratings and recognition for their talent and hard work.

In 2024, York Chester Middle School hosted an International Music and Art Festival to showcase the talents of its band and chorus, along with a display of student artwork. The event highlighted cultural awareness and diversity through the fine arts.

In the spring, the York Chester Middle School band earned an invitation to perform at the Disney Imagination Campus after a successful audition. Students performed a variety of music at the Waterside Stage in Disney Springs. Our band director, Julian Wilson, led the performance.

We also enjoyed a great night celebrating students from Belmont Middle School and W.C. Friday Middle School during the Middle School Jazz Night program. Hosted by JazzArts Charlotte, the after-school workshop featured performances, demonstrations, and a jam session, giving students a chance to explore jazz music.
